Recently got a chance to perform at Wrestlemania X-8 (2002) (V) and lost the WWF Hardcore Title to Spike Dudley (Matt Hyson) only to win the title back from Chritian (Jason Reso)later that night for the 3rd time. Was chosen as the first male winner of the WWF's "Tough Enough" contest. His prize was a one-year contract with the WWF.
Shocked the world by eliminating the nearly-twice-his-size Undertaker at the Royal Rumble 2002.
Despite losing the title, both entered and left WrestleMania X8 as the WWF Hardcore Champion
On May 30, 2002, during a match Maven suffered a broken fibula. He did not return to action until November 2002.
