Atticus Ross was born on January 16, 1968 in England. He is married to Claudia Sarne.

Ross became a part of the side-project Tapeworm founded by 特伦特·雷诺. Tapeworm ended in 2004 due to label issues and other project obligations by Reznor and Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan. Music from the side-project has never been released.

Won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Score alongside 特伦特·雷诺 for the 大卫·芬奇 film, 社交网络 (2010).

Ross and 特伦特·雷诺 release free samplers of their film scores before the official release. A 5-track sampler was posted for 社交网络 (2010) eleven days prior to the full release and a 6-track sampler was posted for 有龙纹身的女孩 (2011) seven days prior to the full release.

Ross is part of the band How to Destroy Angels alongside 特伦特·雷诺 and Reznor's wife, Mariqueen Maandig. The band released a 6-track EP in early 2010 and were featured on the soundtrack for 有龙纹身的女孩 (2011), the same soundtrack in which Ross and Reznor composed.

Was nominated for his second Golden Globe on December 15, 2011 alongside 特伦特·雷诺 for the original score to 有龙纹身的女孩 (2011). The pair won their first Golden Globes for the original score to 社交网络 (2010).

Together with frequent collaborator Trent Reznor, won a Grammy for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's soundtrack album. The album is 39 tracks, some appeared and some didn't appear in the film at all.

Was involved in the making, writing, producing, engineering and touring of Nine Inch Nails albums since With Teeth. On the album Ghosts I-IV, he co-wrote and co-produced the entire album with Trent Reznor. On 2016, Not the Actual Events was the first album to have him as an official member of Nine Inch Nails, the only one besides Trent Reznor. From then on it was Reznor and Ross making the music together for all Nine Inch Nails projects, just like their collaborative film soundtrack work.
